Your Action Steps

First, congratulations! You’re doing great here in week 6 as you’ve completed two cycles of “touches” to your “A-list.”  You clearly understand by now the “why” we’re doing this and I want to encourage you to keep going as we’re entering the third cycle and soon we’ll be in what I cal the “ASK” stage.

Now first though, if you’re a week or so out of step time-wise don’t get anxious. Just pick up things where you are and get back in step and you’ll arrive at your desired destination. Keep going and “no judgement!”

The point to reinforce is that when you cross the threshold of having made three touches, your people are asking things of themselves. For example, they’ll be asking why they’re so different and getting such special attention from you. Most (not all) will be also asking how can they do something nice for you… We’ll show them soon.

Action Item: Here now at this stage is the time to also step back a little and ask the question of what do you know now about the individual you’re building the connection with and what can that guide you in perhaps a new direction to find IOV’s that are meaningful. The power of observation here is where you can see new areas to invest into the relationship.

Action Item: So now you know the next step… its back to the first half of your “A-list” for the third touch. Get these done and begin to note in your mind who is responsive and who isn’t. Soon we’ll be tasked with “weeding out” unresponsive people and thinking about bringing some new people into the engagement building process. More on that later… 

One last thing… At this stage, I’m always asking of myself who do I know that might be a great introduction to make to a person on my list. Coming up with a name or two in the weeks ahead is one of the best ways to get the referrals going!
