The Hand Written Note Touch

Nothing is more impactful in your cycle of “touches” than your sending a personal handwritten note. Think of it… they’re rarely sent or received these days, always stand out from the rest of your arriving postal mail and they always get opened and read!

When’s the last time you didn’t open something addressed to you with a real pen and it had a real postage stamp on it… yes I know never!

Then when you add into that a sincere expression of thanks, encouragement, appreciation or similar greeting or personal reference the note has lasting impact. Some of these impacts last so long as to see them be saved and shared or displayed in one’s office for years.

I keep a box of note card near my office desk always ready for me to send and make someone’s day. Try it and you’ll be amazed at the response you get.

One more point… Someone always asks about my thoughts on tools like Send Out Cards who greatly automate the process.  Now they’ve come a long ways to really do a fine job or personalizing impactful notes and I get continuously surprised at how well they’re done. I don’t object to their use. However, here at this stage I prefer to send my own notes out knowing that the receiver is going to know that I took the time to make it all about them and that I put the stamp on it. That’s just a little bit of the old-fashioned me, I guess but I know it works!
