The Email Touch

Reaching out and staying in touch with email is a very convenient means to keep in touch.  However, there are some great ways and practices to learn and follow and most people don’t do this as well as they should.

Here’s a few tips:

  • Always include a “value item” for the recipient either in the form or a document or a link sending them to a great resource.
  • Try to remove the personal pronoun “I” from what you write especially at the start.
  • Add the person’s name either in the subject line or in the initial sentence as it will increase opening and reading rates.
  • Make the email personal and valuable to the recipient.
  • Be the “giver.”
  • Try to have the email end with a pointer to a next step or event… This creates the expectation of more to come and your willingness to stay in touch and your focus on being about adding value in the future.
